Aquastream XT Owners! I need your assistance!

Hi all,

I'm having a bit of trouble with my new Aquastream XT Pump. Whenever I fill the res with water and switch the pump on it only pushes the water a little past my GPU block before it stalls out. I've added enough water for it to keep going but it's like the pump isn't powerful enough to circulate the water throughout the loop. I've used the jumper to see if that would help any but it didn't. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.

Here is a pic of the current setup minus the tubing connecting the pump to the GPU block.

There should be a little jumper plug where you jump across the red "Deaeration" pins. I never used this in testing because I had a really good reservoir to eliminate air, but I'm sure that's what it's for.

I've tried that too but it whenever I use the jumper I don't even notice a difference.

Try tipping the case around so the reservoir is higher up. Some of the base reservoirs are difficult that way and require a on/off/on blipping of the pump as you top off the reservoir each time. I have also used a barb and funnel on the res to help with the filling. Maybe even fill as far as you can then tip thecase around to run the water back, then repeat. It sounds like the pump is just struggling with air pockets and the reservior placement. Unfortunately pumps don't like air at all.

nice build you got there!

I've only ever used Aquastream pumps; currently I'm using 2 and they had no issues getting the water around when filling, on the previous build with 1 pump I didn't have any issues either

My builds always have a fillport on top through which I fill the reservoir and through which the air can escape as well. If I see it correctly, you have a tube reservoir behind the HDD cages? Does it have an open port or something for the air to leave the cooling loop ?

The "dearation mode" is just a mode where the pump runs on low speed for ~20 seconds, then turns off for 10 seconds, continuously. This helps in getting small pockets of air pushed out when you leave it running in this mode overnight (with the actual system turned off ofcourse!). It should however not be needed when feeling, because a single pump should have plenty of power to push all of the air out of the loop ... did you test the pump before in a "simple" loop ?

edit: just saw your build log ... make sure one of the extra ports on top of that reservoir are open for the air to leave. Although I kinda assume you're using those ports to fill the reservoir right? Also what do you mean with "stalls out" ? Does it completely stop working?

in general I'd say that in your case I would (1) connect a long tube tube + funnel to one of the top ports of the res, fill it up, then switch the pump on for a few seconds (until the water in the reservoir has almost disappeared), fill it up again, turn on again, repeat that process until the reservoir is almost filled and the waterlevel remains constant, then (2) disconnect the tube + funnel and close of the reservoir, then let it run on dearation for a few hours while meanwhile opening up on of the ports every hour to let the pressure equalize.

make sure the tube + funnel is higher than the top radiator is (just tape it to the side of the case to keep it easy), and make sure not to fill it with too much water, i.e. no standing water in the tube+funnel
