Dataparty with 100-120 participants - Page 3

The coreswitch is there because we need something to link together all our "areas" with, the distribution switch is only there because we'd rather not chain the switches (Switch1 -> switch2 etc etc). We have three "areas" which needs to be connected, the staff area, participant area, server area and the wireless AP. We also chose to have a core so that we don't have to make a lot of long cabling to go to <-> edgeswitches

ok.... i assumed your "Distribution-hall" switch is where all your edge switches were going to be tied back to...

Neither am I, because we ran the event like this the last time aswell with 100 Mbit/s switches. Anyhow, any more ideas on the pfSense configuration? Is queues the way to go (seeing as L7 does not work)?

Hah, well, we tested it out and it just didn't work! biggrin.gif

We ran the wizard to set it up, and the connections wouldn't get throttled, it just went right through it without doing anything basically.

We've squeezed in D-Link DGS-1210-16 switches instead of the HP 1410g's as the tableswitches, do any of you have any experience with them? I mean, do we need to mess with routing and all such? We were thinking to have switches management interfaces on let's say 10.0.90.x and all the participants on the public IP's we will be assigned by our ISP, will this require changes in routing on the switches?

How big of a subnet have they given you to allow 120 people to have unique public IP's?
