[Bloomberg] Google Revenues Sheltered in No-Tax Bermuda Soar to $10 Billion - Page 6

The point I was fundamentally making is, apparently it is ok to cheat the system if you're a banker but not if you own a tech giant like Google or even Apple.
I mean, lets be serious for a moment, talking about tax sheltering at all is pretty political so maybe you should just lock and delete the thread anyway. Tax policy is inherently political and most of us had moved the conversation more about economics than politics.
The fundamental economics commentary was all in response to political commentary; per our procedures we have to knock out any posts quoting rule-breaking posts, and replies to those, and on and on, so it did end with otherwise legit material being deleted. I do apologize for that but that's how we've always moderated.

I won't disagree with you but it is possible to talk taxes and finances without going political, or at least so much so that the discussion has to stop. I didn't delete nearly as many posts as I thought I would need to, at any rate.

Done, though I had to take out the quote at the start since it's now invalid (to non-moderators, anyway).

When it comes right down to it, people are nowhere near as objective as they think they are. Granted, there are varying degrees of subjectivity that people have, but no one is as objective as they think, or perceive, themselves to be. A lesson all could benefit from thumb.gif

These posts really annoy me. In the Apple threads sure there are the people who blindly hate, but they are the minority. The majority of people see that Apple is simply being a business, like Google, and give the same responses they give in this thread, thats its all legal etc.

You guys seem to ignore all those posts and then generalize OCN to be Apple hating Google fanboy.

OMG I cannot believe this! This news is absolutely terrible. Now our senator who is skimming off everything he can cannot afford his new Ferrari for Christmas.

Assuming there's actually a physical office with people working in them... what Google has done here is set-up a ghost; there's maybe one or two employees if any at all, hell they don't even need to actually be located in Bermuda - which is the case for many corporations that are head-quartered or run offices here, nothing more than an empty space and the absolute minimum to satisfy legal obligations for operation in the host country.
