Core i5 3570k 4.8 Ghz overclock

Thread Starter
I'm trying to overclock my 3570k to 4.8-5 ghz. Im running stable at 4.6, but when i run prime95 at 4.8ghz, it starts to run unstable. Anyone want to point me in the right direction in terms of any settings/voltages to get a stable system at 5ghz? Thanks to all!

Akasa Venom CPU cooler (soon to get an H80 or H100)
ASUS P8Z77V-LX
GTX 560ti

That processor must be getting hot at the moment, what are your on load temps?

To be honest, 5ghz on ivy is hard, very hard. You'd be better off with a 4.8ghz and a bit more voltage for stability.

I have about 30 degrees C on idle/light use, and 70 degrees C under a 4.6ghz load.

Im using AI suite to try get to 4.8, any help?

What voltage are you using currently at 4.6?

1.255 V. I dont know if thats overkill for 4.6...but it seems to be stable

I'm currently testing my chip and running 1.144v at 4.5 and it's survived 10 hours of prime95

Yeah, use the BIOS to start with, also that's good voltage at the moment, you can bump that up but your temps are going to skyrocket.

No you haven't, that's 100% not true for the 3570k. Screenprints as proof of your CPU-Z and prime 95 running at the same time

That's damn near impossible, can I have the validate link please. How have you managed that?

Thanks

1.144 for 4.5ghz I am mind boggled and jealous. even the 1.22 for 4.6 is damn good.
