no, wasnt refering to the "CPU PLL voltage", i know lowering it from 1.8V can help you with temps,
or sometimes help make your oc stable, about that tho,
when i did very high oc's, they told me to put it back to 1.8V again,
not sure if you had it on 1.5V when you tried the 5.0ghz oc?

I had to edit my post, I totally missed it! but you are absolutely right, its called "Internal PLL overvoltage" even on ASUS mobos smile.gif I found it was set to Auto, will attempt 5GHz again with it enabled.
any tip for starting voltages?

hard to say, but your 1.296V vcore at 4.8ghz looked good to me,
you prolly end up close to 1.5V vcore, but again, only if temps permit,
80-85C you can do, if it spikes to 90C for a moment ..np..
what vcore did you try the first time at 5.0ghz ?
do you use xmp profile for your ram?

To definitely not undervolt i started out at 1.4 vcore, (100.0*50) smile.gif she booted up just fine, so i opened up realtemp, CPU-Z and prime for some testing. After a little more than 1 minute i got these temps:

I do want to try lowering the volts before i let her run for a longer period of time though smile.gif this is hot!
Vcore@1.40V, CPU PLL voltage @ 1.65V and the Internal PLL overvoltage enabled
post #94 of 136
Takes me 1.43v to get 4.8ghz on m 3770k frown.gif
Temps are really good though since I delidded. Anyway, great job with your first overclock

yea, thats what i was afraid of when you would run 5.0ghz, temps .. no go for longer periods,
temps will get even higher when you run prime for longer time..

well, at least you got it booted now ..lol biggrin.gif
the normal cpu pll can help lower temps a bit, but doesnt always do that,
for stability on the 5.0ghz it should be on 1.8V again i think, but then again ..temps

grmbl, not much you can do, yea, try lower vcore some more,
but i think your on the border of stable and crash, but try and see what happens smile.gif
delid is the other option you have of course, if you really want to get the most out of yours wink.gif

1.420V at 4.8ghz for me ...i love my chip...haha
but yea, bit jealous sometimes if i look at those good chips running very low vcores..

i need 1.32 volts for my 3570k @ 4.8ghz... sadly its not prime95 24/7 stable. (makes it an hour then one of the cores errors out but its stable for everything else.... so whatever. ).

sadly i reach 94*C in prime95 at the same time.... (hyper212+ /w scythe ultrakaze fan. / antec nano diamond forumla 7 paste).

i can also do the same with 5ghz @ 1.4volts just fine. game stable. run emulators, heavy cpu intensive games. things pretty nice.

sadly i cannot test if its truly stable because i would probably thermal shutdown lol.

im basically forced to delid. if i want "true" stability.

but oh well....

If it starts crashing
ill just raise the vcore. since real world temps doesnt go beyond 70*C at 1.4v... so whatever.

mine is not so good at ocing, high vcores needed,
but i can run IBT easy at 5.0ghz, 83C hottest cores

even with a simple aircooler, but after delid smile.gif

Running my 3570k at 4.9ghz with 1.408v with the H100i. I dont have it delidded so it will creep up in temps after a couple hours of gaming it settle at around 78-83c and thats mostly on bf3. I dont plan to keep it for more than another year or so since ill be upgrading to the new socket set once they have been out for a couple months or so. These chips are beast so dont be afraid to baby it unless you plan on keeping it for 6-10 years lol...

That would hit 105 easily if you did intel burn test I would think. Have you done any stability testing at that clock?
