APU's are great for HTPC's and decent gaming Laptops.

Did you look at the one Trinity All-in-One listed on Newegg? Its an A6-5400K.

People on this forum love to compare Intel against the A10-5800k. But that's not the CPU most likely to be cross shopped against Intel graphics.

Well - think about it this way. The HD4000 is only on Intels higher end $200+ offerings (Aside from the special $150 Core i3 3225) while the 7660D is on AMD's $120 A10-5800K. The 7660D absolutely trumps the HD4000. Haswell is supposed to double the performance of the HD4000. If this happens there iGPU will be within 85% of what Trinity offers. The problem is you'll only find it in special Core i3's and i5's and in all of the Core i7's. Not to mention once that rolls around AMD will more than likely be only months away from releasing their next gen APU's which have a LARGE emphasise on their graphics.

This is all speculation but I don't imagine we'll see anything much different from what i've stated.

Check the OP, every CPU listed has HD 4600.

But you completely missed my point. You're talking retail desktop CPUs prices, I was clearly talking about OEMs. The retail price of an A10-5800k doesn't matter to someone shopping for an all-in-one.

AMDs next APUs will be its low power Jaguar based APU, Kabini(and Temash). Those will be the chips competing against ULV Haswell. I wouldn't count on them being more powerful than trinity(but they will be much lower TDP).

I was saying that the HD4600 is supposed to be twice as fast as the HD4000. Intel has claimed that their Haswell CPU's will include iGPU's that are "Twice as fast" as the HD4000. AMD has a third generation of APU's planned for the FM2 socket in 2013 (Kaveri) I was talking about those competing with the desktop Haswell chips (Assuming they're released within Haswells timeline) My point was if Intel truly doubles the HD4000 performance with their HD4600 you won't be seeing it on processors that compete with Trinity's pricing. They may sneak in some Core i3's with the HD4600 but they'll likely be priced $30 above you're average Core i3 much like the 3225 is.

Thought you meant Kaveri, that's probably 2014. Richland should be 2013. Its hard to say what improvements it will bring, leaked slides suggest it uses the same graphics engine as Trinity.

But its AMDs jaguar APUs that will really compete with Intel's ULV lineup(which is, as I said before, where integrated GPUs make the most sense). Brazo, Kabinis predecessor, operates at 9W and 18W, roughly the same range as Ivy Bridge/Haswell ULV at 10W and 17W/15W.

If AMD scrambled Intel would probably laugh at them for targeting the wrong things. Right now Intel's biggest concern is ARM's tight grip on the mobile world and so Intel is focusing on getting low-power mobile devices ready for the near future. All of the buzz around Haswell has been around the mobile parts and how they've improved leakage, improved idle power consumption, idle to active times, refining wasted energy consumption in general, etc. Even the new integrated GPU was stated to be designed with efficiency in mind. There is no big demand for higher performance from desktop users, and the people who really do need more performance will surely be pleased by more energy efficient chips since they'll be building farms and servers.

Did Kaveri/Steamroller get pushed back to 2014??? I hope not.

Thats the current speculation, but we don't know.

In my opinion its pretty obvious that AMD's original timeline has changed, but they aren't talking about what the new timeline is.

Setting Steamroller back could set AMD back EVEN more. I hope for their sake that they do not set Steamroller and Kaveri back.
