[Guru3D] Intel Haswell Core i7 and Core i5 specs leak onto the web - Page 4

As far as i'm aware, their concern is power consumption and graphics performance; this makes sense considering that this is what is demanded of mobile devices. CPU IPC at all costs won't be happening anytime soon, except for the ultra high end (ie xeon, etc)

It is probably still 2 years down the road for the enthusiest parts. IB-E isn't even being released until Q4 of 2013

Haswell is an improvement of Ivy, those specs seem in line of what to expect, I'd wait and see IPC improvement before deciding if you are impressed or not biggrin.gif

Ahh, maybe for some. My personal opinion is that they should be breaking 4.0 GHz, in that regards it is rather disappointing. Also, For what I do my rig is already overkill. I will hold onto this rig until my cpu is bottlenecking games. I would need some ridiculous price/performance/ipc increase to even consider upgrading. On OCN, I will go out on a limb and say that most who update from 1155 sandy/ivy will be doing so for e-peen. Not out of any real need. Those people using their computers for hardcore work tasks should jump on 2011.

Would you even need a voltage increase to bump the turbo to 4GHz? [...I'm doubting you would] Considering Intel would charge a premium on par with their usual ridiculous markup for marginal increases, I can only guess that it isn't power or profit, but perhaps just some sappy sentimental rational about the number.

Sad there is not one hexcore, nor even a bump in cache on the top end. Hopefully by Broadwell I guess.

Oh ya duh poke.gif I forgot about the other platform, probably because switching to SBE wasn't worth it for me and IB was the next logical step for me to take (even though I didn't).

No point (and potentially a waste of money) if they don't need 4Ghz to hit their projected targets.

This looks just like an Ivy Bridge or Sandy bridge spec sheet to be honest. It makes sense that Intel is releasing CPU's of pretty much the same spec on a new architecture.

I'm skeptical but also wouldn't be surprised if this is true.
