I'll probably just go socket 2011 after this and skip on 1150.

I'm hoping the K CPUs can hit 5.2-5.6 GHz on air.

had to look up what transaction memory instruction set did, and sounds good for more efficient multi-threaded apps:

You know I'm really happy I went with SBE. It's a higher initial investment for sure, but no quad core part is going to beat it unless it can overclock a good ways past it. That and the upgrade cycles are spread out much more so you don't have that yearly temptation to spend money.

If someone is running IB, then they upgrade to Haswell, they'll end up spending more than if they just stuck with SBE. And SBE will still be faster (unless Haswell can overclock way past 5Ghz).

To either force you to buy an Ivy-E or a Xeon.

Is this because they have 4 physical core instead of 2? Meh, I'll pass on this if those are the features you get for that TDP

Current K chips on the consumer socket also lack VT-d.

Quad core i5s have never had HT.

Apparent lack of TXT is vastly more concerning in this segment, if this chart is accurate.

Does any one have an idea why intel is moving down to a socket that has only 5 fewer contacts?
Couldn't they just use Socket 1155 and not use 5 contacts? Cause that would make everything a ton easier for everyone, not having to buy new boards and such.

Money. Intel sells chipsets too. This way, people have to buy new boards, and therefore, new chipsets.

what I can't understand is why there is no Virtualization support on unlocked (K) models ... plain weird
also I am surprised to see the exact same stock/boost clocks as on Ivy Bridge ... so the only improvements will be that 10% clock for clock gain at a price of lost Virtualization .... and a new motherboard ... meh!
