Another Gigabyte boot loop thread

Thread Starter
Hello everyone. I got a Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P recently and have been trying to test it. It was a freebie that I won from Sectornine50 (thanks again thumb.gif ), but I am having issues with a boot loop. I have messaged him, but he said he never experienced a boot loop with this board before. I installed everything, hdds, GPU, CPU, RAM, etc. and I started to get a boot loop. Naturally, I took everything back apart, expect for the PSU, RAM and CPU. But I still get the boot loop of 5 secs on, 5 off, etc etc. I know gigabyte has bios issues with this chipset, and I was hoping someone that has had this problem could help me to at least post.

Thanks
Ramza

I am sorry to ask do you know the bios version? After you clean CMOS and remove battery does it still act the same.

I don't know the bios version because it wont get that far. I did get it out of the boot loop today, but it wouldnt post. All the phase led are on, though.

it could be that that the boards BIOS is not ivy compatible. what cpu you did your friend run on it? you might have to get a hold of a sandy bridge CPU to update the BIOS as you can only update to a Ivy bridge CPU compatible BIOS with a sandy bridge.

I believe he ran a 2600k, so it may not be ivy compatible. I'll try and find someone to let me borrow theirs and I'll see if I cant boot it. Thanks! +1
