Laptop for Mom > Christmas

My Mom's having surgery in a few days and won't be able to go to her desktop for several weeks. So i want to get her a laptop/tablet for Christmas

Budget: 400-500$

Needs: HDMI - She will like to stream things onto the TV/possibly play music through sound system.

Wants: Decent Brand/Duribility / Enough power to run programs such as Photoshop.

I'd be happy to hear any possible suggestions! Thanks.

*Edit* She has shown interest in the laptops that are laptops & tablets in one, and in tablets. I don't know much about these- and she's a bit technically challenged so to speak.

Do you have a preference as to what OS is included?

This laptop here is nice, and keeps it simple, but lacks an HDMI output.

This one here pushes your price limit, but does include HDMI.

Both these computers have decent specs and would last you a good while.

Does she have a preference on screen size? I know that my mom would never like a laptop under 15 inches.

I haven't asked- mainly because she won't be on board for me buying her a laptop she hates big gifts.

Though- i'm going to go ahead and agree she probably wouldn't want it any smaller than 15"

These are the two i was currently debating between. Let me look at the two you just linked. I read somewhere to avoid Acer but i know Lenovo is a quality brand. (Acer too possibly just what i saw a few threads down.))

I wouldn't recommend the second one as the Processor is fairly weak, But you're definitely on the right track with everything else. smile.gif

By the way- how good are the integrated graphics chips now days? Could Intel® HD Graphics 3000 be able to run photoshop or steam stuff decently?

or the Intel GMA HD that comes with the Asus i linked ;s-

Edit: Notebook check has some answers- apparently the HD 3000 destroys the GMA HD graphics - basically knocking the two ASUS laptops out of the picture. I"m now more focused on the Lenovo. Thank you good chance that's what ill buy ^^

It would be able to run it, but don't expect that great of performance.

But it would be decent, Yes.
