We already did, it's called Crysis 2. Also yes I realise there is a DX11 patch, but before that it was basically console through and through.

Game-play is also limited from hardware. Look at Crysis and Crysis 2. They might look good and all but Crysis 1 had so much more physics going on. Channing that changes the experience. Metro 2033 was never a PC only game so we cant really compare it.

Well the guy said just the gameplay will be identical but things like resolution, texture and lighting can be improved to fill the demand. He only said dynamic lighting, AI, and physics will be identical.
Quote:
He added, "There are obviously things we can do on PC just because this is a studio where you give them a hardware limit and they'll expand to fill it and push it - higher resolution, slighter higher frame rate at that resolution, a few fancier lighting and graphical effects, whatever we can eke out the very latest generation of graphics cards for PC.

Seriously nothing has changed here regarding games and their console/PC ports. Just another game made on Xbox 360 which can have its settings scaled up on PC.

If you read between the lines it is obviously not going to be identical, the PC version will be better. The spell it out for you if you are paying attention. He uses a lot of qualifiers and then mentions things like higher resolutions, higher frame rates, etc., as being capable on PC and the engineers meeting that challenge.

They have to placate the console kids, right?

Treat PC gamers good and they will treat you better... discard them and you might as well keep your game. This is what these devs fail to understand, i don't know why they even released this statement the game was multiplat to begin with unlike Crysis.

That's exactly the type of backlash that makes developers not want to port to PC they don't owe you anything that's what PC gamers fail to see you act like they care what the smallest market thinks that's hilarious.. If anything this is a marketing ploy to get more console sales
post #38 of 103
The way I interpret this is that they are saying this just to make console owners feel like they aren't missing out on anything essential, ofcourse PC will have better controls/graphics/frame rate and therefore be a far more pleasent experience, but console owners aren't picky at all when it comes to the game experience so it does not bother them. I see no issue here other than this being a bit of false PR, though there are people whose eyes really can't distinguish 2560x1440 from 1240x720 due to simply having bad eyes.

Graphics are not everything to everyone. Personally the fluidity is number one in games, I even got myself a 120Hz screen this January and I haven't had a single regret about it, I'll gladly tone down graphics options to reach 120 frames as no graphics can keep me interested in playing a game if it's sluggish to me, and yes I'm quite picky about fluidity. I play BF3 on almost the lowest settings, only draw distance is at medium so the game actually draws my opponents. Though in BF3 there is always this very slight delay in mouse movements and it's been there on every setup I've played it on, it bothers me.

I still haven't played through the first one though, it's theme didn't really fit me. I didn't like the monster theme at all really, I'm far more into human conflict based stories. However I can see why people like the game, in some sense I am looking forward to this game even though I'm not like to purchase it any time soon, especially after the humble bundle and the steam sales, too damn many games on my hands and only 9 months time to play them through before entering military service wink.gif

And to the people saying that it's going to be a console port, from the videos we've seen so far the game looks quite good, so I wouldn't lose hope, but don't be naive either. Make a judgement only once we actually see what it is.
