I can totally relate to this. I have been playing BC2 and I love it and it never gets old. BF3 on the other hand is laggy and unplayable from all the glitches and whatnot.

Still reading through it and wow, I totally forgot about the artillery strikes they mentioned for squad leaders.

Although I didn't read the article, I can probably assume that it is fairly one-sided since this is coming from MordorHQ. To be honest, I can't say I respect a majority of their user-base. They are big promoters of trying to get Official BF3 Mod Tools from DICE, which I fully support but don't ever expect to happen, but they have opted to continue to support the File Tweaker mod on their forums even after DICE had vehemently banned its use on Ranked Servers due to its potential to change weapon damages among other things. They claim to be some of DICE's more hardcore players/supporters, yet they fuel their hate-mongering campaign against DICE with one-sided argument posts like these and continue to support mods that hackers use, which in a sense weakens the multiplayer of BF3. If they want the BF3 (or BF4/BC3) to succeed, then why must they spew hate and constantly troll the DICE developers like in this case?

I've played all of the PC Battlefield games from 1942 and up, and I have enjoyed each one so far (each having its respective unique flare). I find it funny that so many people complain when the gameplay changes (no Commander, regenerating health), yet they are also quick to complain whenever NOTHING is changed (CoD anyone?). I think some people, like the forum-goers at MordorHQ, have nothing better to do with their spare time but start hate-campaigns against game companies. If you don't like the game, then go play a different one; it's that simple. Plenty of people are clearly still enjoying it, I've been playing Aftermath all weekend. All of this energy used for general hatred towards corporations not making the product they wanted could be better used on more meaningful things like enjoying other games they like, participating in politics, or just helping people in general.

/rant /exitthread

Edit: I'd like to go on record that I agree on some aspects of the game that I'm not terribly fond of. Of greater note, the client-side hit detection and no mod tools. But I will not spend my time and energy complaining to a billion-dollar company about changing a game to how *I* want it to be. It's their design decision, if that's the way they want to make the game then so be it. People who complain about how the game didn't meet their expectations should've done better research before buying, as is the case with anything else purchased in life.

Incorrect.

BF2 was released in 2005, BF3 was released in 2011...a whopping 6 and a half years apart, people are sick of COD because of the constantly yearly re-hashes. People never said they wanted it to stay the same, they just wanted DICE to include the features that made BF2/2142 so great. Just like how the shape of a Mustang has 'matured' over the years, but it still has all of the iconic features.

No one is asking them to release BF2 with new graphics, but at the same time you would expect them to include the aspects that made Battlefield so great.

Same here!

I put an insane amount of hours into BFBC2 and even the expansions for it. Although with Battlefield 3, I cannot play a full match anymore.

I at first thought it was my PC, since I was unable to max it or get stable smooth frame-rates. Now that I have upgraded my PC, I am able to play it maxed, with a solid 60.......it runs really good. Although I still find myself not being able to play it. Then I decided to buy Premium on sale, since I thought that would get me into it.........nope, still don't play it. I know the graphics, the physics and gameplay are like no other game out there, but I cannot just sit down and play it more than a few minutes.

Something weird about this game to me.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, except for one thing. What features in BF2 did they fail to include in BF3? Commander Mode? Mod tools? In-game VOIP?

If you played BF2, then you will no doubt agree with me that unless you were on a server with active admins, good commanders were largely uncommon. 95% of the time I played on non-clan servers, I was forced to play with commanders who would do whatever they needed to do to get points and wouldn't give a crap about sending orders around to the squad leaders to pick up points in a tactical manner. I believe that the reason they dropped commander mode would be for the matchmaking process on consoles (since most people on consoles don't belong to clans), which would make a lot of players rage at commanders that didn't know what to do. Did the PC crowd get gimped? Sure, but I feel that there are other reasons for its exclusion not yet known to us.

Mod tools? Well I would say the DLC is a large reason for that (even though BF2 had expansions), I don't really agree with the fact that they haven't released any yet. I'm in full support with you there.

In-game VOIP is something of the past unfortunately. I don't think any game I play nowadays has in-game VOIP. Should BF3 have had it to support teamwork? Sure, I think so. But how many of the people who were playing together before not already moved over to ventrilo or teamspeak? It's just adding to the already tall amount of bandwidth that this game soaks, which the server would also have to handle. I personally don't see this as much of a problem since most strangers aren't just going to "team up" with you and work together on a random game of Conquest Large (let's be honest here).

Other than those 3 major things, I really REALLY cannot see much of a gameplay difference between BF2 and BF3. We still have different classes, huge maps (Armored Kill), land/air vehicles, a plethora of weapons, and dedicated servers. I really don't see what all of the fuss is about, but to each his own. I think BF3 is a worthy successor to BF2, but I understand some (like yourself) will disagree with me. I just hope BC3/BF4 get some of the above mentioned aspects implemented back in the game, it'd make a great franchise even better.

I get Battlefield fans wanted VOIP and I get they wanted their commander and I get DICE didn't deliver on those two fronts like they should have.

But no game has better gunplay then Battlefield 3 and it really isn't even close. I'll always have fond memories of this game almost for that alone.
