[The Tech Report] Does the Radeon HD 7950 stumble in Windows 8? - Page 3

The obvious answer is new drivers. Maybe that FPS improvement came at the expense of latency. The 99th percentile time only got a little worse

Sorry, they didn't frame their tests as a driver test. It was not exploratory or investigative and instead vindictive.

I did really notice that. Especially at the end of the review.

Scott Wasson is pissed that he's been cut off from free Radeons for life probably haha.

Ya, I am not clicking on that link either; they are really hating on the 7950 aren't they? Tech report will never get traffic from me again.

As someone who has both a 7950 and uses Windows 8 ( both single screen and in Eyefinity)....

I think it doesn't ("stumble" that is) and they're just trolling OCN. I have literally seen no change in benches; they certainly have not gone down.... rolleyes.gif

That's your perception of it, obviously, but not everyone sees it that way. You really think they are going to throw away a 13 year reputation over something as stupid as the review release schedule for new cards?

Not even going to click on that link. Based on the feedback I've read so far, it's more of the same from TR. I will not be using their stuff as a reference point anymore as long as they continue this trend.

You don't see it because you've a Nvidia diehard. Slamming the other guy is a good thing to you. In other words you're not objective about it. Hell you haven't read anythign I wrote with critical thinking cap on.

Ironically, I have a 660ti here, as well as a 660, and my current 680 roflmao. And I have 5 7970s. You wanna roll?

I'm tired of this mess. I'm testing this with my 7870 tomorrow to see just how the frame rates and times line up on different games. FRAPS has a built in feature that can measure frame times in milliseconds. All I have to do is plug the results into excel, put a cute formula with it, and I can measure frame times.

Will hopefully do this tomorrow.

And you're the only objective guy on the Internet, right?

Their results are strange, but they test using a method no one else uses, so I'm rational enough to believe that different methods might result in different results. Are you not? Why does it immediately have to be a conspiracy, and that TR is out to get AMD? They tested twice and got the same results both time (and the testing back in August also showed higher latency for the 7950). That doesn't make your critical thinking cap interested that maybe there is some fire in the smoke? You don't think that maybe this might play into the "smoothness" issue with Crossfire that HardOCP talks about in every Crossfire review?

You've got both cards, fire up Fraps and test it yourself.
