Arc Midi case fans & controller

Thread Starter
The case comes with 3 R2 fans. I want to add a 4th lower front fan to cool the hard drives plus more volume thru the case. The fan I have in mind is a cooler master 1000 rpm fanhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103078 which I think is the same specs as the stock fans. I'm not thrilled with the controller but could use it with both front fans to the MB. The cooler master is 12v & I presume the stock fans are as well?

I also though about buying a molex 4 way splitter & eliminate the controller. I doubt 4x140 fans at 1000 rpm would be a noise issue, my hearing is not real good if you know what I mean. So can I do that since I'd rather pass on any type of controller? Will the fans all spin at 1000 rpm & not be a problem. I could buy better fans but if I have decent air flow it's ok by me. The system will have a 7850 & a hyper 212+ & 3 maybe 4 hard drives in the lower trays. I get an extra 20% off so the fan is like $8 from NE & thought about adding an extra fan to the hyper 212+ but it seems it only lowers an I5 buy a couple of degrees plus I'd need a PWM splitter. Whats your thoughts, might bump the CPU a little but not very much on air. Hope I explained good enough - Thanks

First of all: the standart controller is crab imo. It just feels not solid and I broke the one out of my define......
So I would recommend you a Molex splitter smile.gif

The fans are quiet but don't move a ton of air. But as you said I would stick with them.
For the fan you add to the case I would go for an r2 series fan as well more for looks than anything else....

Adding one to the cooler just depends on your needs. If you would like to lower them try it but in my opinion 2-3 degrees are not worth it.

Hope to help you

Yeah the controller is kind of cheap & not in a good location but for $60 I can't complain. I wanted an R2 but never found one at new egg. Fractal referred me to NCIX. I'd rather buy at NE but would like to buy the splitter & fan at the same place if possible. If you guys could help with a link that would help. I don't think its worth it on the CPU fan either. Thanks for your help
