Wow I just sent the headphones to UPS shipping center, and recieved my refund 6 hours later from Amazon. Now that is great customer support.

Going to try the Sennheiser HD 558 this time. I probably wont do that mod, as they should be good as they are.

Why not look at the Sennheiser PC 360, if they are anything like the HD 558 or my HD 600's you will not be disappointed. I just say that because you never responded to my question of weather or not yu wanted headphones or headset, and the pc 360's are the headphones i would get when my astro's break... please break soon astro's and give me a reason to buy these tongue.gif

Headphones for sure. I already have a Zalman clip on mic coming in the mail so that is no issue. Plus I don't really use VOIP/ventrillo that often so sound quality is the main priority. So I will just go with the HD 558.
Lucky for me, they just went down $20 on amazon within the last hour.

Unless theres some major reason not to buy them, I'll be ordering them now.

I ordered the HD 558's for $20 off and also got a free $20 amazon giftcard. Not too bad considering there really wasnt any deals elsewhere for these headphones.

They might be right at your $200 budget range but of all the different headphones I have used for gaming I really enjoyed the Sennheiser PC360 G4ME's a lot for BF3. Music sounded good to me but I am not an audiophile, I had them hooked into the same Sound Card you have.

I just bought a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50S with a FiiO E11 Amp for my Laptop/Droid, they came strongly recommended for music and a few people say they enjoyed them for gaming as well from what I have read and been told.

Having worn the 360's and used them for about 6 months I found them to be comfortable even over several hours of gameplay. I am still waiting to receive my M50S set, holiday season makes getting mail in Afghanistan a huge mess so I cannot yet personally share my experiance with them.

The Ultrasones are extremely picky about placement. If you put them on wrong (yes, there is a wrong way to wear Ultrasones), it does sound awful. If you move them forward a bit more, the sound changes a lot.

I see a lot of recommendations for the 595/98 and I really don't see why. They are way overpriced IMO. Anyways, why not get the ultrasone 750s? I wouldn't recommend the 900s as they are also ridiculously priced for what you get.

Really? I hadn't heard that before. The only way to put them on wrong that I can think of is to have the band not on the top of your head.

Just received the 558s today. I hear people say they were real good for classical music, so I settled for the closest thing I know, Metallica - No leaf clover and they sound simply amazing. Perfect ammount of bass with great distinction between different instruments and vocals are great.

So glad I ruled out the no open headphones because these are great. After turning it up to normal listening levels, I couldent hear any outside noise anyways besides little clicks from my mech keyboard.

I can't wait to hear how great they sound after they burn in (if theres any truth to that).
