Having some issues with my laptop.

Thread Starter
I have a HP Pavillion DV7 laptop, and lately Ive been having bad internet issues.

Like, Ill be trying to download something, and I have 30 mbps download and 4 mbps upload. But Im not even getting 1 full MB of download speed when I should be getting about 3.
Not even 1 MB, like 200.00 if that. And Ive been having issues all day. and The HP touchescreen computer thats like 15 feet away from my router, but a floor up. has full signal. and gets like 70 ping up to 200 ping, and my laptop is getting 30 + ping and Im 5 feet from the router.

Any ideas on whats going on here? The PC upstairs is almost completely useless, and this one is starting to have problems. I never used to get more than like 7 ping, now I can barely get it to stay in the 30's..

Ive tried checking the wireless drivers, and theyre up to date on both computers.. so I know thats not it.

Ugh.

well you've proven that it's not your computers since they are both having the same issue.

I assume you're on ADSL, if that's the case ask your company to do a loopback test on the line followed by increasing the gain on the line, if that doesn't work then they could need to decrease it.

I have charter high speed cable.
It normally works fine, now its fluctuating all over the place, I think it might be the POS cisco modem they gave us. it died the first time, in three months. And they came and gave us a lesser one and charged us for their faulty crap, and Im beginning to think Its the modem. and idk if i can test the modem itself
I mean like stress test it..

OK and your results showed that your line was maxing out at the right speed. To be honest mate I'd contact the cable company and get them to check the line. That's going to be the first point of call.
