No Steamroller for 2013 as far as I know, they postponed it to 2014.

Hopefully they will at least shrink Piledriver to 28nm at GlobalFoundries.... this may allow for some more speed / lower power consumption.

I just did essentially the same thing (had a Phenom II X2 550BE with 4 unlocked cores at 3.8GHz), and yeah, I'd say you'd be happy with the FX-8350, especially since you've already got the motherboard and ram for it.

Go for it.

There wont be a Steamroller chip out til 2014. Piledriver is all we're gonna get from AMD til then according to the roadmaps that have some out. No point in waiting on that. Hopefully we'll get a Piledriver refresh for 2013 to hold us over but Im not too confident on that.

A 8350 is a very good chip especially if you get one that is an excellent overclocker. I went from a 4 GHz 1090 to my current 8150 and its been a nice little upgrade. Not huge but still solid and Piledriver is a noticeably better chip than Bulldozer. So yeah, I say definitely move on up from that Phenom II. thumb.gif
