Small SSD claustrophobia

Thread Starter
Hey guys. I have a small SSD(64gb) as a result, I can fit the OS in it aswell as some programs before it fills up completely. What I want to do is not install all programs on the SSD but put some onto my 2TB HDD but some programs don't allow me to install them on the HDD, for some reason they need to be installed on the C drive, when I try to change the option from C drive to E drive when im installing, it doesnt let me. Why is this so? games like battlefield install onto the HDD with no arguments but softwares like Autodesk Maya and Adobe Photoshop insist on installing on the C drive....

They probably need direct access to files in your windows directory and it might because they are locked to that drive...

well

http://www.overclock.net/t/1156654/seans-windows-7-install-optimization-guide-for-ssds-hdds

Follow that as well, you can normally free up a lot of disk space that the OS doesn't really need...

There is a way to link a folder to a different drive- I don't see why you couldn't copy the photoshop folder to your HDD, and use the method listed here to link it- http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5642269402

Instead of getitng a brand new drive, i would get another one of the same brand/model and put it in raid 0 if your motherboard supports it.
Raid 0 will give you double the space you have now, and it will also double the speed of your SSD.

no it def does not

-2 SSD's in RAID0 doesnt allow TRIM and after a while they will be slower then a single SSD for writes etc
-Raid0 does not improve access time and little improvement in the more important small file access

I'd choose a ssd + cavier black for example any day than 2 ssd's in raid 0.
