If I resume your point, you don't need windows 8. Be glad you don't have to spend for something you already have thumb.gif
Microsoft don't even hide it, they introduced this new OS for the UI. I got it for 15$ and you can upgrade for 40$ with regular price.
I might be biased because I already have it but I actually went back to windows 7.
Nothing to be mad about thumb.gif

B-b-but, what about your monies???

Win8 isn't that bad, taken on its own, but anyone who has invested in Win7 is justified in refusing to endorse what should have been a Service Pack with an add-on UI. Personally, I thought Metro makes for a decent 10-foot interface, but I made the mistake of installing it on a laptop that only had a trackpad. That makes for a horrible user experience, no matter how you cut it.

Best thing I've done so far is add a shortcut with the location "shutdown /s /t 0" on the desktop. No more 4 step process.

So "changes" are a "New feature"? Really?
Do you know what those changes are? I highly doubt it.

I put classic shell on my laptop so I don't have to look at the little tykes start menu.

I went back to win7 due to drivers issues. I will wait a bit for the transition and let the red team mature their drivers for win8.

Service pack really? Micro$oft need monee & I doubt all their changes would fit with Win7 architecture even if I have no idea what I am talking about.

This list is incomplete. Where is DX 11.1, which includes a new version of Windows Imaging Component (WIC) (WIC is also fully available for Windows 7 as part of the partial DX 11.1 update, which is still in preview) ?

Joking aside, Windows 8 is a great OS. Very speedy when booting off an SSD, easily half the time compared to Windows 7. Wish Metro had better flow to it, have been using Decor8 to make it a more similar to my desktop background/color theme
windows 8 also runs a lot smoother and isn't a chop fest on my netbook like windows 7 was. I had to do a bit of tweaking but I don't use the metro UI at all. This is because metro UI won't run at the resolution my netbook is. Yeah,I know, time to ditch this netbook.
