How large of a market is there for three slot cards? Has to be diminished from the pool of people that are willing to purchase two slot cards.

I'd give it a break cuz it's cooling TWO gpus not one like them silly Asus cards.

only other way to get a dual 7970 solution on air requires 4 slots...so this is at least some space savings tongue.gif

and if the 690 was an engineering masterpieces, they would have figured out a better cooler for it. Dual gpu cards with center fans blowing air out both ends of the card do not play nice with most cases. Not to say that this solution is necessarily any better but the air flow disruption is generally less of a problem with these typ of coolers then one that shoots a steady stream of hot air toward the front of the case where there is typically no exhaust.

Had an ARES and a 6990 which is similar configuration...and unless you are running open air / test-bench type setup it's almost impossible to configure well for air flow in most cases

Maufactured by TUL just like the VTX3D 7990. They all are the same.

I have no idea what the big deal is about this card considering it's the same thing like the Powercolor 7990. Also, this card has been on the market for quite a while now...

I have a feeling Visiontek will re-brand a 7990 soon enough

This thing can't hold a candle to that.

The 690 can't hold the candle to the 7970 too because it doesn't have any hands rolleyes.gif

Anyway just because it looks cooler (which it does to me) doesn't mean it's an engineering masterpiece. That's Apple-fan mentality. Also, AMD can't be blamed for this since it's not them designing it but TUL.

The frack is wrong with 3-sluts heat sink?

2 is enough. Even one can do the job. Herm

What is this red button? Emergency stop?
It's not that, really? whistle.gif

This is a good point but I would keep my current 7970 (assuming you can still do that with this card) and, although it would fit, I'm not sure what sort of airflow I could expect to have for the top card.

Sigh - another card castrated by retarded output connectors, at least this is not a "6GB" vRAM card which is good only for up to 4 displays bcos of using reference output connector config. Bot still ... all that power and limited only to 4 screens ?

nah....a LOT better...likely at least 60-80% seeing as a single 7970 on 12.11 drivers is pretty close to 6990 in most cases

the mini display ports are good for 2 each. so i believe six screens is possible.
