If i were to ever get a Dual GPU card it would be the 690, i wouldn't even look at a 7990.
I wouldn't have bothered bringing the 690 into this thread if they didn't call it out.

than*

the fact that you say you wouldn't even look at a 7990 makes your fanboyism very obvious. try again.

Just because the GTX 690 is shiny doesen't mean it's an engineering masterpiece
Lets see here.

Compared to the GTX590 it

- Runs Much Much faster
- Uses less power
- Runs cooler
- Runs quieter
- While still remaining dual slot

not to mention it's impressive build quality.....

AMD don't even make an official 7990 but when others do it, compared to the 6990 it

- Runs Much Much faster
- Uses alot more power
- They could not make the card louder than the loudest video card that ever was, so i guess this is a win lol
- They are all triple slot where as the 6990 was dual
- They look cheap/ flimsy and ugly (though this is subjective)

I agree, but wouldn't it be an ARES card? thumb.gif

Fact remains the 7990 is the fasted dual GPU solution on the market. And if the reference 680/7970s are any indication the 7990 board is likely higher quality as well. Despite what people may think about the heatsink it really doesn't tell you much about the components put into it.

Regardless at the end of the day 'fastest' is certainly enough for a lot of people. This being OCN you would not think that would have to be stated.

Now that is a manly man's card. A dual gpu card has the right to use three slots. Not so much those crazy single gpu asus cards.

If you compare power consumption and how well they made the 690, yeah it's a masterpiece. The 690 did things very well and the average person who buys it isn't going to need anything more. It's small, 2 slot, has relatively good power consumption given it's effectively two cards. Yeah, they did well. However the 7990 still gets better FPS, just at a cost of apparent marksmanship.

Note I did not say either card was better, I just said they did a really good job shaping the 690 into what it is. The 7990 could have done better at a few things, size and power consumption being two of them. The last 7990 review I read talked about how the card pushed the PCI power limitations, which really isn't a good thing.
