"Is a real business"... does it actually make profit? Now or potentially for the future? That's really our only hope to see google fiber expand beyond small scale trials like this, is if it actually makes money.

My guess is another Midwest city or somewhere in Texas.

Ah but the interesting part about Portland is the amount of dark fiber in the area! The Pittock in Portland is a major network hub for the west coast! Believe it or not, there is a huge datacenter under there... They might not even have to lay out much fiber at all...! smile.gif

Miami please. Very high population density over here, perfect spot to recover the development costs and then some to reinvest into further expansion. thumb.gif

Im not sure the population in miami would be the demographic that google is looking for though. from what ive heard, most of the people who live there are old people and low-iq hipsters who think the term Fiber-Optic means they can see through their wheaties biggrin.gif

It will probably come to new or expanding communities first since the infrastructure investment will be substantially less. Having said that, I really hope they get something going in the bay area and southern California soon.

Oh man it would be cool if they came to Charleston, but I seriously doubt it.
