Maximus V GENE - Should i get it?

Hey guys.

I just bought the ASUS GTX 680 Directcu II TOP, and i'm thinking about changing my motherboard as well.

I'm currently using a Gigabyte Z68x-UD3-B3, and even though i understand that the difference between using a PCI-e 2.0 and PCI-e 3.0 motherboard will probably be unnoticeable, i just want to know what do you guys think about a particular motherboard that i want to get.

I've been keeping my eye on this one: Maximus V GENE
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/Maximus_V_GENE/
http://www.fnac.com/mp19539364/ASUS-Maximus-V-GENE-Republic-of-Gamers-carte-mere-micro-ATX-LGA1155-Socket-Z77/w-4 (I'll get it from here)

Do you guys recommend it? Is this one of the boards with REAL PCI-e 3.0 support?

The rest of my specs are in my signature and i'm asking about this because i'm going to europe, and the prices there are quite better than the prices here in Brazil.

Thank you guys and feel free to make some suggestions about different motherboards. I want a good one so i won't have to think about replacing it for some time. I'll need one with LGA 1155 support since i'm using an I7 2600k.

There's no need to upgrade your motherboard, the UD3 is one of the best for that generation rolleyes.gif

do you need the micro atx version of that board there are better version that arent micro that asus has and if you are watercooling they have a board that can be watercooled thats in the same max v line

V Gene is all around great board, but you aren't even close saturating PCI-E 2.0 with that card, plus your CPU doesn't support PCI-E 3.0, so upgrading the board wouldn't do much good with your current setup, and for future i'd prolly wait for the Haswell to hit the shelves before upgrading from 2600k.

Oh, i see.
I thought i could just change the motherboard to get PCI-e 3.0 support, without having to change my CPU.
I guess i'll stay with my current setup then!

Thanks for the information everyone.
