Trouble unlocking BCLK on i7 3820 (Sandy Bridge-E)

Thread Starter
So I've been trying to get my 3820 past 4.3ghz. Right now the only thing that sticks after saving and exiting the BIOS on my EVGA X79 is the multiplier. I can get it to x43 (which is apparently the max), however, my temps are super low at this speed (in the 40s under full load) and I want to push my CPU a bit harder. I have looked at many different guides and they all say to set the BCLK to 1.25x (125mhz bus). The only problem is whenever I increase the BCLK it doesn't actually change anything. After I save and exit the BIOS, I load up CPU-Z and it shows me still running at a BCLK of 1.0x (100mhz bus).

So my question is, what am I doing wrong here? I've disabled all the power saving features, I've set my voltage to fixed 1.4v. I've got the latest BIOS. Nothing works, the changes to the BCLK don't stick. Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

maybe the BCLK is too much for using a x43 multi. 43 x 125 is like 5.3GHz which might be too high for the setup so it is reverting back to 100. try lowering the multi and or BCLK and see if it works.

hihi

It is better to change the mult to 38 that is the base OC and the fast bus to 125 for 4.75 ghz also vol to 1.48 it will work for stable OC

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I've kept the multiplier at the base x36 when messing with the BCLK. I even just increased it by 1 step to 101mhz x36 and it still doesn't keep the changes made to the BCLK, CPU-Z still has it listed as 100mhz.

i take it you mean you are doing this
make sure the bclk frequency settings is set to 100 1st
then change
bclk frequency ratio x1.25

you can always post here with your issue if you havernt solved it.
