Radiator miss match

Hello,

I don't think its a big issue or big deal.. but My question is:

I want to add a single radiator in series with existing rad i have. The Radiator i have now in my system is a Thermochill PA120.4. with (4) 38mm Skythe model # DFS123812l-200 fans. I was trying to find another Thermalchill rad a PA120.1 just because i wanted both to be the same. Unfortunately they are hard to find at a good price. Anyways, i was looking through my old stuff i had and found a GTX 120 rad, I see the fins on them are very dense compare to the Thermal chill...

Would adding this GTX 120 rad with my Thermochill PA120.4 be okay? can i put a 25mm fan on it and be okay with it? or would the fan have to be identical to the ones on the Thermochill?

You can mix and match. Doesn't matter. If one cools a bit better than the other then one cools a bit better then the other. With denser fins I would try to have a more powerfull fan to get the air through tighter spaces.

Sure you can mix rads.
However dense fins mean it's a rad optimised for fast and loud fans. If you are going to put slow fans on it, I would highly recommend you put them in push/pull (fans on both sides).

It must be a typo, why would you put a 25mm fan on a 120mm rad?
Or by 25mm are you refering to the thickness of the fan?

Cheers cheers.gif

I would use a RX series rad to pair it with the Thermochill. They have almost identical FPI so you can run the same fan speeds.

My apologies for no clarifying, yes i mean 25mm thickness this is the fan i was thinking to put on since, its available to me now.(Scythe model SY1225SL12SH) 1900RPM. have the 38mm thickness ones too.. but i'm trying to fit the rad and fan under the TJ07 case.. and since i already put 38mm fans on the Thermochill i'm not sure both rads with 38mm fans will fit. Guess i'll have to take it apart and see. lol

i would try to put the 38mm fan on the denser rad if possible. And again, that dense one would greatly benefit from one fan pushing and one fan pulling ....... if you have the room.

Yeah, I was trying to picture how 'cute' it would look on a 120mm rad. biggrin.gif
