i5-3570 funny temperatures....

Thread Starter
Hi,
Just upgraded from an E6750 to an i5-3570 and I'm getting ~40C idle and a ~90C Prime95 load reading using RealTemp/CoreTemp. Is this normal? Seems high and I can't find anything on Google regarding this problem besides a few hits here and there.

FYI:
Stock voltages/multiplier
Used AS5

I had a Freezer 7 Pro installed on the E6750 and had nothing but good temps/luck with it.

Any input would be great.

Thanks in advance and you can talk computer jibber jabber; I'm not a foreigner to tech speak = )

Prime95 really pushes the CPU to its limits so I would say with everything stock it is not as bad.

While gaming or doing tasks what is your CPU temp?

I doubt you will ever see Prime95 temps.

BTW Ivy Bridge runs VERY VERY HOT.

Hit around ~50-60C gaming (CS:S); haven't tried newer games yet.

I heard that IB runs hot but 90C is somewhat shocking to me.

Thanks for the response.

So the cpu isn't overclocked?
Cause if its running stock settings, thats high.
My stock was around 65 under P95 if I remember correctly.

Did you use an aftermarket TIM or the one that came with your HSF?

EDIT:
Temps have dropped significantly over the past week days. Ran P95 again and hit 81C max on core 3. That's close to ~10C drop. My theory is that the AS5 needed time to bond/cure with the HSF and the processor. Maybe you should make this a sticky for google users running IB processors.
