Got enough juce?

I built about a year ago a pc for my family that they can use for every day internet browsing and my brothers occasional league of legends gaming. Originally it was not designed for the gaming aspect so my parents want to get him a low end gpu for it. the only problem is the 430 watt power supply. We were planning on getting him a 6770 but my concern was that it was pushing the limits of the psu. what do you guys think?
heres the specs:
Amd fx 8 core
some asrock mobo
430 watt corsair system builder
1 500gb hdd
a dvd-rw dirve

if i forgot anything please let me know!!!!!!! And thanks ahead of time!!!!!!! smile.gif

It's a good psu, a 6770 should be perfectly fine for it

it's gonna be fine even with a good little OC on the CPU. just don't get crazy with the volts and clockspeeds.

I wouldn't oc at all without a power supply upgrade tbh. A 6770 and the fx 8 core is going to be about the highest I would go and feel safe.

Personally I feel like it might be pushing it a little as it is, but that's just me.

6770 hardly consumes power so I'm not really worried about it. FX 8 cores are a power hog but not as much as everyone makes it out to be. like what I said a "little" cpu overclock would still be good. just don't get crazy with the volts

While I agree the FX series is no where near as bad on power that others make it out to be, I just wouldn't run that system on the power supply overclocked at all. It's already probably going to peak around 350-380 watts which is about where the power supply is going to peak at realistically.

Even if you push the CPU a little bit it could definately push it into a space that I would not feel comfortable with.

So to summarize, I think that the op will be ok without overclockimg but this is the upper limit of what the power supply can do.

Plus if you take into account over a year or two of aging any extra power drainage isn't going to be safe on the power supply,

get an HD7750 and you wouldnt need to worry about the psu.
Its low power, doesnt require a 6-pin connector, and is closely priced to the HD6770 but a bit faster
