Fraps Frametime (similar to TechReports methods) Viewer application released. - Page 2

Free is good no doubt, but I'd rather see the testing done in newer games (that have repeatable becnhmark loops).

I propose:
  • Heaven 3.0 (free)
  • AvP Demo (also free)
  • Metro 2033 (built in benchmark)
  • Hitman Absolution (built in benchmark)
  • Crysis 2 with DX11 Hi-res Texture pack via Adrenaline Benchmark Tool
  • Batman AC (built in benchmark)
  • and a good old Crysis Warhead via FrameBuffer Warhead benchmark tool

I'm pretty sure lots of enthusiasts here own these games.

  • Heaven 3.0 (free) (got it)
  • AvP Demo (also free) (can get it)
  • Metro 2033 (built in benchmark) (got it)
  • Hitman Absolution (built in benchmark) (nope)
  • Crysis 2 with DX11 Hi-res Texture pack via Adrenaline Benchmark Tool (got it)
  • Batman AC (built in benchmark) (got it)
  • and a good old Crysis Warhead via FrameBuffer Warhead benchmark tool (mine don't work frown.gif app error/ downloading the demo now so hopefully that works)

Okay, i'll do the ones i can today and post them here with my settings. What resolution? 1080p? or 1680x1050 (most common)?

I would go for 1080p to try to eliminate CPU dependancy as much as possible. Also, we should agree graphical settings for every benchmark. I'm thinking settings that net playable FPS for majority of people (what good is latency comparo, if game runs at unplayable 20FPS?). Maybe even something like separate sections: 1080p max settings for people with top end cards, 1080p medium for mid range, etc.

I think we also might want to ask people to post all 3 graphs: latency over time, FPS and Rank.

Anyone else has thoughts on this?

All 3 graphs makes sense

As for settings well how about highest playable?

I just ran Crysis 2 times square everything ultra with 4xAA with the benchmarking tool at 1180Mhz/1500Mhz mem with Edge AA disabled so how about that for Crysis 2? 1920X1080. For the benchmark: Wait until you hear the first sound then press the benching key to start but make sure you end the benchmark before it does automatically or else it will not save the data. This happens after Prophet moves behind the Truck after firing two shots at the big alien (split second moment so stay awake)

Anyways pretty awful performance by this 7970 though i'm not sure if the OC is stable yet but here are the charts.

I'm gonna install crysis 2 and run it with your settings. What about FPS cap? Did you have any? We should mention that too, it seems capping FPS affects frametimes.

I turned it off thumb.gif

Batman reported some better numbers (decided to bench it while Metro/Crysis/AVP download) but there are some significant spikes (i suppose from mainly when loading new benchmarking scenes)

Settings: PhysX off

Neat utility.

I'll have to feed it some of my benchmarks so we can see if there is a difference between last gen and current gen hardware in anomalous frame times.

This tool still needs alot of updating. It would be nice to have more ms measurements to the left and the ability to scale the images because in fullscreen it kinda exaggerates the latency whereas when it's scaled horizontally it looks less insane.

Yea when i have time i'll run all the mentioned benchmarks excluding hitman with 12.11 drivers and the 12.10s to see if AMD messed with the latency to get higher average FPS at about 1050Mhz/1375.
