Razer products fails after a year of usage.

Is it just me or it happens to any Razer users?

From my collection, I got Lycosa, DeathAdder, Orca, Nostromo, Destructor, and Black Widow Ultimate. Three of them are dead after a year of usage.

Lycosa: The keys doesn't have any response. WASD light cluster doesn't work.

Orca: The left cup doesn't work anymore. Replaced once, same problem.

The problem is on the wiring. After a year, they made Electra with a modular wiring design where you can pull the wire off the cups. Razer realized it.

DeathAdder: The left button produce two clicks when you click once. Replaced once, same problem.

The problem is the micro switch wears off easily.

So yeah, I got tired of telling it to their technical support and I vowed to myself that I will NEVER buy a Razer product again.

Thanks to this forum, real enthusiast lurks here, they can tell you what are the real big-shot brands.. forget Razer.

Oh, I have a Logitech cheap wireless mouse and a 2.1 speaker and it never show any problems. It's 4 years old now and working fine!

Just to add perspective , I'm currently rocking a Razer Lachesis, which I found lying around at my mates house last year. He had it for about a year and decided the grip wasn't for him so left it to gather dust. I took it from him this time last year and it still works fine.

So perhaps you just have a string of bad luck, or it could be how you use the hardware or how you store it??

Well, bad luck maybe?.. lol

I'm sorry if I had to write it here in OCN. I'm just so frustrated.

I do care for my things especially the expensive ones. Razer products are very expensive so I'm expecting the same for its quality. I use my stuffs normally like anyone do except that I'm using it longer than most people bcoz' 80% of the time I'm in front of my workstation and I use it everywhere (work, house, lan party).

Can't say I have had a similar experience. My first gaming mouse was a Microsoft Habu which is a rebranded/rebadged Razer mouse. That particular mouse is closing in on 5 years and still works great, though it has been retired and is now only used when my wife wants a mouse for the laptop. A year and a half ago I retired the Habu and picked up a Razer Naga MCE which is still alive and kicking and is my daily driver. Other than the whole driver snafu I have never had an issue with a Razer product. Honestly, sounds like just bad luck.

100% agree with OP, Razer has the worst build quality out, i've gone through about 4 deathadders already onto my 5th now in past 2 years, and i do take care of my gear, and im not a "violent gamer"

ive had a mx518 for about 6 years and its still rrunning like brand new, i won't be getting another razer mouse again, next mouse will be a g400 (mx518 updated)

also the lycosa keys started fading and getting stuck after 6 months for me.. current'y got a TteSports Meka Gunit, but looking at getting a Ducky as my next keyboard.

had a razer headset, never again, they have horrible sound, get proper headphones and an external mic, never get a "headset"

got a Samson SR850 connected to Xonar STX and it sounds incredible

Had an old Deathadder and a Lycosa, both worked flawlessly for as long as I had them (DA 3 years+)

Recently bought the new DA2013 as I liked the old DA so much

I thought I already solve my DA problem. I thought it was on it's plastic chassis which taps the micro switch, I thought it was short and it doesn't tap well. So I made a very little extension to tap it well. It worked fine for a week but it occurred again. So the micro switch is the real problem.

I've had my deathadder for three years now. A few weeks ago the forward side button gave out. Hopefully fixable. Three years for a mouse isn't too bad.
