Opti Temp Question.

Thread Starter
I just got my Opti 165 last night. I've been playing around with it and the temps seem a little high to me. Stock @ 1.8 I get around 32,34 C Idle and 51,49 C Load...... I'm tempted to switch to the Stock HSF but mabey my temps are normal. Its just that I had my 3000+ @ 2.6 1.55Vcore and it was lower than that, Granted I did have the IHS removed I still think that my temps should be lower. Should I switch to Stock HSF or somthin else?
Any input would be helpful.

It should be lower. Sounds like you reseated already so I'd pop on the Stock HSF just to see the difference in temps.

What thermal compound are you using, if its as5 then you will need to wait the 200 or so hours for it to cure, Also what are your room temps they will have an impact on the overall temp of the cpu

1. Did you lap it?
2. Have you used to much thermal compound?
3. Why does it seem like I saw this post and replyed already, is there another one on this elsewhere?

Sounds like you have used to much or to little Thermal Compound. My Opty at 2.4 Runs at 32Idle and 37 Full load.

It could also be the Heatsink and fan used...Its good but not the best.

I would reseat it and remove the old compound and reapply new therma compound such as AS5 but remember to only use a Rice grain sized amount of it.

Well it still depends on the ambient temps, My 4400 at stock get 18°C idle

Alright I reseated it, Tried the Stock Hsf, finally I removed the IHS and I got the temp down a little. Right now I have OC to 2.7 and its @ 50,52C Load w/1.33 Vcore. This still seems high. I was hoping to get a better Oc than this but I don't like my temps over 50C.

If you removed the IHS then did you make sure the stock HS fits?? You will probably need to mod the bracket....you need to make sure those four edges sticking out don't come in contact with the holding bracket on your mobo

I just switched the bracket with the one off my Geforce 6100-m9 Mobo, I had my 3000+ in it with its IHS removed. It ran around 44 Load @ 2.6 w/1.55 Vcore. My Opti is a ccbbe 616 stepping BTW.

That does seem high for temps with my AC64 pro I'm Around 31c idle 42-44 load
when I'm at 2.8...Perhaps your not fully flush with the seating...Plus my temps were high to start and steadily dropped over 3-4 weeks
