slow desktop performance nadia

Thread Starter
Hi i have found any desktop option to be running slowly in nadia. If i grab a chromium window for example it stutters across the screen rather than smoothly moves?
I have noticed that any change to the task bar makes the screen blink initially and that cairo dock doesn't work without lots of flicker in opengl mode?

it seems fine on 13. Could it be an openGL issue?

Kernel : Linux 3.5.0-17-generic (x86_64)
Distribution : Linux Mint 14 Nadia
Desktop Environment : Unknown (Window Manager: Mutter (Muffin))

gfx Card: ATI 5850
OpenGl version: 4.2.11903
2d driver: 9.0.2
catalyst control center ver: 2.17

anyone else with slow performance

you desktop is Cinnamon, unless you installed gnome 3, because they are the only ones I know of that use mutter/muffin.

did you grab the drivers from the amd website or the mint repos?

I think this could've been resolved by installing proprietary graphics drivers.

I've had that happen. while better performing in Linux the FOSS ones are actually much stabler IMHO
