I feel the 558's are a little warm and have a good amount of bass that extends low but doesn't have that thump if you're a bass head. The CAL! on the other hand excels at many types of music and has more bass than the 558's. They are a closed can so they provide a fair amount of isolation but don't expect a perfect seal. Lastly, the build quality feels a little flimsy on the CAL! but if handled with care, it should last you a long while.

The CAL! is actually on sale right now on amazon for $59.99.

I went and ordered the Sennheiser HD 558, I really did not want to cheap out and regret it later. Many people have said these are also great gaming headphones and well as listening to music, plus they look super comfy. The bass on them is what sold me, it was that punchy bass I was looking for in a headphone.

Z looks like a healthy upgrade over my $25 used off amazon Xtremegamer. Since getting my new Galaxy Note 3 which boasts an amazing sound signature with warmth and detail from the likes of which I'd never heard before, I was staring down at the old X-Fi, reminding myself that it is in fact 7 year old tech. True that the X-Fi sounds metallic / possibly harsh comparing to the likes of my new Note 3. And I thought my old Droid 4 had some nice sound redface.gif. Technology never stops growing up

Hello!

Would like some inputs in regards to my soon to be gaming set up:

Soundblaster Z
Sennheiser HD449

Is it a good combo?

I was looking at the HD558 as an upgrade.
