With AMD already in the ARM game, and having the huge lead in the integrated GPU segment (ala the APU with Llano and now Trinity) they are poised to be in pretty damn good position as we start to transition over to more power efficient cores and away from x86. If this is indeed true, it means Intel is looking to pick up someone with experience in the arm department and possibly that has licensing to do so. Why not grab Nvidia and have everything packaged into one. x86 is going to the wayside. As soon as they get all the developers to accept that fact the faster we will get there, but I don't imagine x86 holding out for too much longer. Especially with the move from the consumer market pushing for greater power efficiency and are less concerned with super powered processing.

Someone just came up with an easy way to implement multithreading too, that even the most novice of coders/programmers can pick up. Which hastens the move as well.

it's possible, i mean Jen has been eyeing the forum for a while now, who knows, maybe a merger of the two.

I wonder if Microsoft would let it happen. (an agreement was signed between NVIDIA and MS back in the Xbox days saying that MS would have the right to reject mergers - it should be noted that I'm not sure if the agreement is still in effect though)

I know, that is why this rumor really may not be that farfetched at all. Nvidia has everything that Intel needs to jump into the "arm" race. Why not take a stab at scooping them up.

On what grounds would an anti trust kick in? People toss that around, but I don't think realize how simple it is for them to dodge that issue.
