What does "reboot and select proper boot device" mean?

I've just created my first new computer. Had everything running fine, but I rearranged the wires in the case and tried to start it up again and now I'm getting this message:

Can upload more photos if needed. Please help! I'm worried I've messed up the HDD somehow.

Have you installed the operating system on the hard drive?

No OS. So should I insert Windows 7 into the disc drive?

---The only reason why I'm asking is because before I rearranged the wires , a different screen popped up it was like a control screen for the bios or something.

I've inserted windows 7... an "Install Windows" screen pops up, but my keyboard and mouse aren't working for some reason.

dont reinstall! you probably changed the boot order. go into your bios, probably hit delete to do that, find the boot section, make sure the hd you put windows on is first. there should be another section perhaps with the hard drive priority, make sure the first one is the one with windows. if youre not sure, just rearrange the cable for the hd again.

I've gotten into the BIOS, and I've set my crucial SSD as "first" in terms of boot priority.

If you have not installed your Operating System on your new hard drive, boot from your CD/DVD drive that contains your Windows installation disk and proceed with the setup to install the OS on your hard drive. You can leave your Hard Drive as your primary boot drive and your motherboard should proceed past your hard drive (since there is no installation, thus nothing to boot from) and boot from your CD/DVD drive that contains your Windows installation disc (where it can boot).

If you have already installed your OS on your hard drive and the computer is not able to boot from it, you may need to do some research about corrupt boot drives as I don't know how to help you.

If any of this helps, let us know so we can help you better! thumb.gif
