Is the gtx 670 worth it over the 660; MSI PE GTX 660ti vs MSI PE GTX 670 vs Gigabyte Windforce GTX 670

I'm worried that the 192-bit memory bandwidth might be a bit restrictive down the road, as I don't upgrade frequently, I tend to build entire new builds. That being said I plan on video editing and gaming on a 1920 x 1080 display.

If I were to get a 660ti it would be the MSI PE twin frozr edition.

Between the 670's is the MSI or Gigabyte version better?

I would get the 670 if you can afford it. Only slightly slower than the GTX 680, and quite a bit faster than the 660 Ti. Which 670s specifically are you asking about?

well if I do decide on the 670 it'll be between the MSI PE twin frozr edition and the Gigabyte windforce.

Any thoughts?

I think the MSI PE has limited voltage control, so I'd lean that way.

what are the advantages?

Slightly better overclocking.

hmmm, I'm looking up benchmarks and the gigabyte runs cooler doesn't that mean I should be able to push it more than the MSI? And thanks so much for the help

The cards do downclock a little at higher temperatures, but I haven't seen anything to show that the better cooled cards actually overclock that much better. I've never really looked though. People have unlocked the voltage via the BIOS and a lot of them reported an additional 50 MHz or so on the core clock with the added voltage, which would imply that the MSI card would get about the same benefit. In the end though, the gain is pretty minor so I don't know if that is reason enough to get the MSI card.

I would probably just get whichever is cheaper - ultimately you are only talking a few percent better overclocking - but I have heard good things about both cards.

Neither, the 7950 is superior to both and is an overclocking beast.

The 670 is a very good card. I have a 670 FTW and couldn't be happier. I can play Far Cry 3 completely maxed out ( yes that is with the whatever msaa you call it) and not go below 45 fps on a 19200x1200 monitor. Borderlands 2 though has some issues and I suspect it is with how the game was made.
