CPU Cooler........I've been looking at...

Thread Starter
.....the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO which I can get for under £30 GBP (UK currency)

My better half is stuck for Xmas presents and she wants to buy me my Cooler..

She has said that her budget for it is upto £50, so naturally I'm asking if there is a better cooler considering Price/Performance,

I'm not looking for Extreme Overclocks but for something in the way of a better alternative..

Specs: (in my rig builder but here as well)
970A-UD3 Motherboard (Ideal for Overclocking)
Phenom II x4 960T (will be unlocking to an x6)
Casecom K5-9388 Mid Tower Case
http://www.ebuyer.com/239238-casecom-k5-9388-black-case-with-blue-led-120mm-front-fan-k5-9388blue

Any Good Suggestions....I would consider Water, but dont know enough about them or if my case has the space.

Thanks.

The h50 60 70 80 n antec 620 n 920 will all fit as it has the 120 space in the back.
I purchased that case for my brother in law and it keeps his comp quite cool but cable management is difficult.
I say if your going to unlock n oc go with the nhd14 as it beats most the wc as isfor a tad more. if just unlocking stick to what you have listed.

The NHD14 is a little out of budget, my personal budget was £30 GBP but now for Xmas its £50.

Is another I'm looking at but its 92mm fan setup, so I'm thinking that the CM Hyper 212 EVO has this beat (also considering Price/Performance)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Noctua-Heatsink-Cooling-NH-C12P-LGA1156/dp/B002W81KTI/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1355485120&sr=1-2
This is another option but at the max price limit, does this beat the 212 EVO in every way ?

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO would be perfect. I love the look/quality/feel of the super high end coolers as much as the next guy, but usually the price isn't justified. The EVO will keep up with most of the best coolers, while falling slightly short. It simply cannot be beaten for the price, which is why I've personally used at least 5 Hyper 212 Plus/EVO's on builds I've done.

OK I've narrowed it down to 3 coolers (2 Air and 1 Water)

CM Hyper 212 EVO
Thermalright HR-02 Macho
Antec Kuhler H20 620 CPU Liquid Cooler

Aiming for 4.0ghz x4 and x6 of my Phenom 960T...

I seen some bad reviews about the liquid cooler splitting over time, and the last thing I want is a £400 tower shaped paperweight.
I have a sinking feeling that the Thermalright cooler is going to be too big....

So it kinda leaves me with the CM Hyper 212 evo.....

Anyone had experience with the Antec water cooler ?

I would get a Carsair H60. It will be perfect for a Phenom II 960T unlock.

212 Evo keeps my i5-2500K (OC'd to 4.5GHz) idling at 20C and 59C on full load.

I'll keep the H60 in mind, but for now I have the CM Hyper 212 EVO being bought for me.....

Maybe I'll get the h60 or h100 when I upgrade to a new Vishera Processor

Why do you think the HR-02 will be too big? It's hands down the best of the bunch.

Also, there are some other fantastic alternatives I'd grab over the Evo. The Thermalright True Spirit is quieter and performs better. The Silver Arrow SB-E Extreme is a beast, assuming it will fit. The Gelid Tanquillo performs similarly, but is quieter as does the Enermax ETS-T40 (according to some it actually performs better).

Or, if space is a concern, I beta tested the Cooler Master Hyper T4 and was surprised at the performance and how quiet it was. It's a total PITA to mount (took me three tries to get it inside my case) and still has some wiggle after mounting, but it performs incredibly well for the money, about as well as the Hyper 212 from my experience with it.
