[CVG] The 15 game-changing features of the PS4 - Page 7

In Q4 2011, UK gamers spent £90m on used games. That's only around 10% of what gamers spent on boxed new games (£780m), but significant nonetheless. For all the talk of a digital revolution, used game sales were bigger than download sales (£87.1m) - yet developers don't see a penny.

Heavy Rain creator David Cage famously railed against used games at GDC 2012: "I think there's something wrong with used games. People make money out of our work and this doesn't go back to us or the people taking risks". As a result, Sony is heavily rumoured to be 'locking out' used games on PS4. A Kotaku report claims that you'll buy PS4 games in two ways, on Blu-ray or PSN download (even full retail titles).
Blu-ray isn't going away. Yet. As Sony boss Kaz Hirai said in August: "We do business in parts of the world where network infrastructure isn't as robust as one would hope. There's always going to be a requirement for a business of our size and scope to have a physical medium". You'll need an internet connection, mind, or everything falls apart...

this is complete crap...used games are ruining consoles pffffft!!!

thanks but no thanks sony, im on pc and im staying.

Bold: Gotta love myths.
GT5, Heavy Rain, Hyperdimension Neptunia, Journey, Tokyo Jungle, God of War, Valkyria Chronicles, The Unfinished Swan, Starhawk, Ratchet and Clank, Papo & Yo, Pixeljunk Shooter, MGS4, Infamous... just a few right here across some genres.

Oh man that gave me a good laugh. Nice try giving Sony an excuse.

If I left my car door unlocked then found out it was stolen, you do know that I have to take some responsibility for that? Or do you? Either way, you are just being too delusional.

Nice changing the subject with an analogy that has nothing in common with the PSN hack. Here is a proper objective analogy for you.

You lock your car, go into the store, come back out and realize it has been broken into and many parts that make it work properly along with some of your personal property, stolen.

4: Obvious lies. The chances of that are like the chances of Electric cars finally being practical at the PS4's launch date.[citation needed]
5: Just like 2, not really a large change... these changes are common in all consoles.
6: Possibly. This is the first solid claim that has backing.
7: The PS4 will never be able to be backwards compatible with the PS3. But will be backwards compatible with PS1&2 games.[citation needed]
8: Similar to point 4. This is just pure speculation.
9: Just like 2&5, nothing major. This was already established with the PS3.
10: Again, no surprise, already done with the PS2&3.
11: Unlikely, just like point #1.
12: Just like 4&8, pure speculation and the chances of this happening are lower than this forum shutting down before I am able to finish this post.
13: And why is this a surprise? PS2: 1C1T. PS3: 1PPE6SPEs (1C6T). PS4: 4C4T.
14: Just like every other console...
15: Most likely ~$500.[citation needed]
Okay, this article was poorly made. The only point that actually added anything useful was #6. The rest is just filler.

Fixed.

1 is a duh, an obvious fact. The likely chances of it not being PS4 are slim.
3 is another duh, 4k TV's are being brought out, by the time the console is a little halfway across its lifespan they will be affordable, so it supporting 4k (at least for movies) is again, highly likely.
7 is the most obvious fact. An x86 CPU inside of the PS4 would give it the ability for PS1&2 backwards compatibility and would not support PS3 games.
Unless you are saying it's going to cost $350 or $650 USD, then I am still on the ball here.

They said in the article that 4k movie support was likely anyway.

Also, games similar to Journey could be rendered in 4k and ran at 30FPS.
