I still think despite it showing its age, the chip offers a great deal of performance. my only qualm was power consumption for rendering 3d and the like. so I upped to a 3930k."
But not much has changed in the past few years it seems
and i still have to buy that replacement board for the 920 lol

why no overclock?

Got a guy on my local craigslist selling as P6X58D for $35.

You can overclock it to 3.8ghz, which is still decent and I doubt it will bottleneck 2 660tis

It's weird, the guy at my local computer shop is saying I don't need another 660ti. Maybe I don't need one but wouldn't it ensure I max or play most games on ultra?

Sounds a bit like he is talking out of his ass some games like say Metro 2033 can break a GTX 680 or Radeon HD 7970 in 1080P or 1440P maxed out and there are other games that can do the same i have a single GTX 680 2 GB card and i am having problems with some games in 1440P so i will sell it and buy 2x GTX 680 4 GB cards

Ha! I am still going to get a another 660 ti. Now that I have this PC for a few days I remember how much I liked messing with them:D I cannot believe I bought a CPU that cannot be overclocked. It is killing me! Any suggestions that wont break the bank and that will be better than the i5 2400 I have now? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Also, would you get another 660 ti first or another CPU? biggrin.gif Thanks!

I would go with another 660 considering your CPU is more than powerful enough to handle to 660 Ti's SLI'd smile.gif

Thanks, I appreciate the input. I cannot believe how much catching up I have to do as far as understanding whats what with the CPUs and GPUs. My friend said he would sell me his one week old Intel i7 3770k for $180. I don't even know if that's a good CPU or not. I may tell him no thanks and just pick up that second GPU. Side note: What CPU (Out today) is comparable to the i7 920 OCd to 4.0GHz that I used to have? Thanks all, this is really helpful! thumb.gif

An i7 3770k tongue.gif. 180$ for a 3770k is a very good deal. There aren't really better CPUs out for gaming.
