i5 3570k + motherboard combination..

Thread Starter
I'm working out upgrades to my phenom system and I have decided to go with the i5 3570k. This machine will pretty much be gaming only with moderate overclock. I've been looking at endless motherboards and I turned here to get help! Which motherboard would you guys recommend for the i5?

Priorities
1. Build Quality
2. Overclocking Ability
3. Looks
4. SLI or CFIRE (not looking to run dual GPUs ATM, but the option would be nice to have)

Here are a few I've had my eye on:

GIGABYTE GA-Z77XD3H
ASUS P8Z77-V LK
GIGABYTE G1.Sniper M3
ASUS P8Z77-V

I don't really see what the difference in the ASUS boards are. My budget for the board is roughly $175 USD. If there is one you guys prefer to these, please post.

Thanks.

I just built an i5-3570k rig this past Thanksgiving weekend and I used an ASRock Z77 Extreme4, I did swap it out for an open box ROG Maximus V Extreme because I couldn't pass up that price tag, lol. However, if I hadn't seen that M5E on clearance I would probably still be using the ASRock. I was able to overclock my rig to 5Ghz on liquid with no problems at all. The BIOS is straight forward and easy to navigate.

comes with 8GBs of 1600mhz G.Skill Sniper for free right now!

well your doing what i did several months ago,,,,i changed from 1090t-crosshair v,,,to the sabertooth-3570k,,,you'll be happy with the change,,,its good

if it was me i would go with the P8Z77-V,,,because of the extra heatsink,,,also both the ASUS boards have 8pin 12 volt atx,,,,

the P8Z77-V LK would probably do the job,,,

the P8Z77-V would be the better overclocker,,,because it has better power management,,,more chokes,,etc

i always buy ASUS,,havent had a RMA in 7 years,,,5 motherboards,,,lucky i guess

I like the ASUS quality. I'm probably gonna push the chip as far as I can go on air (hyper 212).. I've seen them getting up to 4ghz just on air. I would love to get a Sabertooth but it's gonna push this thing over budget (1k). Would the ASROCK board handle an overclock of 4ghz? I have an ASRock 970 Extreme 3 in my AMD build and I've been very happy with it so far.

Any of those boards you listed will do 4ghz easily. Just depends on what features/colors you like.

Y no Gene V?
Small wonder.

I went with the P8Z77-V because of the built-in wi-fi and the ability to use that feature as a router. Also for the remote connection features from my android tablet. Oh and also for the fan control.

It will easily go 4ghz+ on air

Maximus V GENE is also a viable option for you if you don't mind the microATX size
