3570K 4.5 ghz 99 degree Celcius ! Cool UPDATE ! Delidded chip ...

Hi guys

I think i have bad chip that is able to reach 4.5 ghz with 1.35V and i'm using Noctua NH D-14 with dual fan at 1500 and 1000 rpm( zalman zm- stg2 tim applied). As seen in first photo there is 17 degree Celcius difference between core 0 and core 1. First i thought i couldn't seat the cooler well but i reseated it 3 times and i know there's good contact and pressure between IHS and cooler. Now my question is, how the hell can there be a 17 degree Celcius difference between cores ? I mean what's this ? I know 4-5 degree is possible due to chips thermal and mechanical referance but damn 17 is too high.
I'm really pissed off my chip and i know that if i reapply the crappy intel stock TIM with quality TIM, temps will decrease and temp difference will be minimal between cores.However it'll woid warranty and risk of killing processor.

The other problem is when i remove fans from cooler and test prime95 with 4 minutes temps go 4 degree Celcius far with the fans installed and funny thing is after 4 minutes prime test i touch the Noctua heatsink and booom! no warm no heat no temperature nothing. It is cold. After 10 minutes it barely gets hot, i mean warm redface.gif I measure the heatsink temperature to make sure i am not mistaken. Corresponding to IR thermometer, it only shows 38 degree Celcius. now i am asking intel engineers WHY THE HELL DID YOU USE CRAPPY TIM ? We buy this chips because of its oc potential dont we ?

Do you have any suggestions ? should i change it with 3770K or another 3570k Chip ? or any bios tweaks to decrease temps ?

My system;

Maximus V Gene
2x4 gb 1600 c9 1.5v dimm
High power direct 12 1 kw power supply
3570k malaysia chip batch l232c006
room temperature 24 C

UPDATE 1 !

Guys i think i understand why my chip temps go unbelievablely high. My motherboard is having some issues. I have to cmosclear before every ratio attemps ( 44x or 45x) cause the board doesnt save my last settings.The thing is when loading optimized defaults it sometimes starts windows with my last settings.( not every setting, generally cpu speed. vcore or dram voltage and speed changes).Load optimized defaults after i see 4.5 ghz 1.338V biggrin.gif
What ? biggrin.gif Bull****! After cmosclearing everything is clear now =) BTW i still have no idea why the powerdraw jumped up 110 watts.Now in second photo you see it's 90 watts.Maybe 1024 mb gpu memory was causing high temps.I had changed it to 1024 mb from bios.It's auto now. Second photo you see the load voltage was a bit lower than first scenario but i will keep testing with same voltage and 1024 mb gpu memory and post it up. Keep watching! and thanks to all of you.

UPDATE 2 !

I have set to 1.352V and gpu mem to 1024 mb and here is the result

Power draw still 90 watts and no huge temp difference. I am still confused but everything turned to normal i guess.
Cmosclear thing worries me however, should i rma it ? or advise ?

UPDATE 3 !

Guys unfortunately nothings changed. Look at the gflops between photos. New W7 doesnt have SP1 thats why the temps didn't rise up.

UPDATE 4 !

I delidded the chip with zalman zm-stg2 tim and for cooler surface i used zalman zm stg2 too. Here are the photos before and after;

Before Delidded room temp 23.2

After Delidded room temp 24.1

Thank you for your replies. I have seen the threads but do you think it will improve oc capacity ? 1.4V 4.6 ghz even not stable. How can i manage to get 4.8 or 5 with this chip?

Look, Ivy is limited by temps. I'm sure you will be able to oc higher after delid, but i think your max will be 4.8 or even 4.9 if you are lucky. You dont have a very good chip. I really good chip will do 4.8 under 1.4vcore...

edit: I need 1.360v for 4,6mgz, then it jumps to 1.430v for 4.7ghz. See how huge is the difference in Vcore for just 100mhz? That's to be stable on prime. I don't have a good chip..

Don't delid your chip, it will obviously void your warranty and, if done wrong will kill it. I would suggest to completely remove the heatsink and chip, clean the chip, reapply decent thermal paste and try again. If that still doesn't work, contact intel or just settle for a lower OC.
