If you're honestly that worried about your PC you shouldn't be on the internet or computers at all. Things happen, that's life, learn to deal with them and move on with your life. Worrying about viruses like they're some plague is the wrong way to go about it.

Use any AV for the real-time and on-demand scanners at least once a week. Honestly doesn't matter which, just pick one, let the real-time scanner run when it wants to once a week, and do an on-demand scan once a week.
Use MBAM for the on-demand scanner at least once a week.
Use common sense while browsing. If you go looking for hacks, free games, free software, or click suspicious links then you're asking for trouble to begin with.

None of which take any effort or time aside from clicking 1 button each.

Your computer will not blow up, it's not some cracker ( not hacker ) trying to snoop around your computer. If they could gain remote access to your computer you're in trouble as you either pissed off someone you shouldn't have, or are a known billionaire from who they're trying to get bank info from, otherwise it's all but useless to gain access to a random persons computer. Most of the time it's nothing but a simple program to redirect you to certain web pages, or fake pop up adds to get your info. Hardly ever are they keyloggers anymore or other intrusions, not worth the hassle to key log a million PC's when those people know nothing of PC's and will more than gladly hand over their info to some program that claims it can fix the thousands of errors they have.

~Get bitdefender (even a 3 month trial) that will protect your pc good and it has tools to increase gaming performance.
