i7 3770k: Heat Issue? High Temps ? Delidding ? ( i7 3930k ? )

Max TDP: As far as I understand and I might be wrong that this is the maximum heat a cpu will let out?

I have read online and on this forum that the i7 3770k does run hot say after 4.5GHz overclock. The only way around this is delidding the cpu which has some risk involved and which am not willing to do as I don’t want a dead cpu at the end of the day.

The reason why I mentioned TDP first is that in a water cooling setup a i7 3770k overclocked to 4.7GHz (TDP 77w ) reaches temps over 80’s while in the same water cooling setup and same room temps a i7 3930k overclocked to 4.7GHz as well (TDP 130w ) stays in the low 70’s?

The above is a actual example a friend of mine done I mean you would expect the i7 3930k to have higher temps being a 6 core?

This makes me wanting to go for the i7 3930k even more know being a 6 core and running cooler then a 4 core? I did have my heart set on the i7 3770k but after seeing these results am having to rethink. Even on this forum I have seen people with same overclocks on both cpu’s (i7 3770k & i7 3930k) but the i7 3770k temps being way higher.

Nothing wrong. I hit 80s too under water.
