Thread Starter
Just bought it last nyte on Steam, and I can't seem to get it to work. Black screen hangs indefinitely.
Suggestions?

It's becoming a more common problem. Try patching the game manually, or verifying the integrity of the cache, since its a Steam download. I've been looking for a fix for nearly a year now. No ones suggestions have worked. For the record, it runs fine on on my laptop, but has the black screen hang on my desktop; they have virtually identical hardware, save for the notebook-style discreet card as opposed to my desktop's cards.

Some solutions that have amazingly worked for some people (not me):
1. Manually update PunkBuster
2. Run in compatibility mode, use Vista Service Pack 2
3. Disable Stereo Mixing in the Sounds control panel (Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Sound > Recording tab
