hey guys,

i am going to be water cooling my sig, just the CPU, im going to be using a 240mm rad. the WHOLE reason why im going water cooling is because i want to make it absolutely quiet. but i also want beastly overclocks and arctic temps. so... i saw THIS rad on amazon, it has a 11FPI, im not sure that would be enough surface area to cool efficiently?

pretty much any 240mm rad would probly be more than enough for a single cpu loop.

You should be fine, but im only just starting to get into watercooling myself.

but from what i know from the research ive done, is that 240mm rads are quite beasty for only cooling the cpu, so i dont think youll need to worry about the surface area.

There is always going to be a trade off between noise and temperature. If noise is your priority, then low FPI and slower (therefore quieter) fans are your best choice. If temps are the priority, then higher FPi with faster fans.
with the quality of fans today such as the Gentle Typhoons and Swiftech Helixs, you can pretty well split the difference and achieve good temps with a very quiet rig.

The SR-1 rads have 9 FPI and are rated very well for cooling.
If you want quiet than then you want sub-1000rpm fan operation with low FPI.
