Great guide. Got me interested. I am thinking of making a small slight box if it will work for what I want. I cut a piece of aluminum to face over the side of my 5.25 bays in my 600T. I want to cut out the tag "KING" into it and and have it cleanly lit from the back. Would this be the best option for me?? Im talking 6x3 inch area max. If so, wondering if anyone has any scrap etched acrylic laying around thumb.gif

And do you have to light the whole edge?? I have an RGB LED Illumination module connected to my Aquaero LT, which changes color according to my water temperature, would that work for it since I am planning on a small area??

Shoot! The scrap piece I have is that long but about an inch wide, sorry thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

For something like that, since it is so small, you would be better off just taking a piece of acrylic and drilling a hole in the side and putting an LED in it, let me get you the link to where I saw that done...

I'll post back when I have it!

Thanks for that link Jeffinslaw. That is very simple and cheap and I may go that route. Not at evenly lit as the slight box though, which is what I figured when using only 1 LED.

Thanks for the input Modnoob

Any cutting into the layers will cause the lighting to do odd things if you're edge lighting it. Might want to consider back lighting instead. Take a look at my little back lit panel on page 1 of this thread.

Found a product that may be worth looking at. It's an acrylic with some sort of microscopic reflective particles, designed to be edge lit and transmit to the surface.

For something that small, easily the best route to take.

Another member linked to that product. It may be a viable solution but at this moment, I do not have the funds to test it.
