The record on maximum frequency was achieved with liquid helium... which wasn't used on UP5/7. And UP5 has the highest base clock for Z77 achieved by Sin0822 thumb.gif. UP7 is probably worse with base clock most likely due to extra stuff like PLX, but they all are capable boards.

i went with the up7 due to asus customer service. gigabytes has been great with the one question i had for them. very good service. my board runs very strong. its not just the board determines a world record. has alot to do with the chip also

you know I didn't try max BCLK on the UP7 under LN2, but on air it does better than my Up5 did on air.

Don't know about budget, most people buy what they need..... When IVY Bridge-E comes, I will have a 4930K & a Rampage V Extreme...

Only fools buyX79 with 3820, if I want quad core, I would pick 3770K because of much better power efficiency & much lowerr cost of mobo, imo X79 should be matched by nothing less than a 3930K & must be an 8 dimm board with 32gb of 2133mhz rams
