Hello everybody, I need some suggestions & if you could...explain a lil why you're picking the certain MoBo.. I have a Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z as of now with two GTX670's, 16GB's of RAM, H100, Corsair AX 850, Dual Force GT 180GB SSD's. I ended up getting a 3770K real cheap/free through a program that Intel have with stores that particpate. I was going to go X79 for christmas, but decided better & I'm just going to upgrade my video cards instead. I do a lil movie encoding, but I mostly play games maxed out on a 1440P screen. If anyone have a better Motherboard suggestion, please let me know & why. I also like to overclock (Addicted to it) One more note, I will be doing a full custom loop to this rig also. The reason I am upgrading is... I want the most out of my cards & a 2600K & Z68 won't give that to me.

I Narrowed it down to:

ASRock Z77 Extreme9: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813157322

Asus Maximus V Extreme: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131858

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813128569

Thank you for your help....

I never had a problem with any Asus motherboard i have ever had but some have nothing but problems with theirs i say go for Asus Maximus V Extreme and if you dont feel like that the MSI Z77 M Power is also worth looking at

I just spoke on that board in another thread. If it had TRI-SLI I would & didn't have that yellow on it.

I've had a few on them & I've been lucky. I love their UEFI & Software. That Giga board is very nice with the components it has into it. I could live with the color too!

How did it perform? I like Gigabyte, but their UEFI is lacking comapred to Asus & ASRock...

ya asus has there crap together when it comes to bios..but you have to pay the premium..and if your going to tri sli then i would go with x79 2011..ivy has 16 lane limitation compared to x79 40 lanes..and the plx chip is not great..it adds lag...what do you need tri sli for?? sli is good enough with good cards..and tri will need to be water cooled 99% of the time..and a 3770k isnt really that much faster then the 2600k..i see it as a just throwing money away. pci 2.0 vs 3.0 is just a sales tactic..and the onboard graphics are better but you dont need that either.

I actually was going to go 2011, but I ended getting a 3770K as a gift from my nephew (He got it through Intel Retail Edge) I play on a 1440 screen & the cards isn't enough to max out some games. The latest games that have came out, Sleeping Dogs(HD Pack), Far Cry 3, & Hitman Absolution has really tested my 670's. I decided to get rid of them & upgrade. I am going to WC the system. I have TRI-SLI 670's now... They really don't get hot, just loud.

I believe the games that will come in 2013 won't be no joke. I have Vanilla 670's . They do well, but @1440P they're about to hit Vram limit, so I'm going to sell them & get Three 680 4GB's

Sleeping Dogs can eat all 3 GB of VRAM on a 7950 in 1080P and it gets even worse in 1440P a 4 GB 670/680 or a 6 GB 7970 is a must for that game if you want to max everything out
3 Way SLI with 2 GB card no 2 Way SLI with 4 GB cards are much better and its cheaper

I saw TTL test the Asus PB278Q and while testing he showed sleeping dogs eat all 3 GB of VRAM on his Club 3D 7950 Royal King card
It start at 11.14

I don't think I can wait till March & I doubt if I'll do AMD... I'm selling my 670's now, so I'll get some of it back.

My Son has a 4GB 680 & it's not nearly that much on his Rig, like 18 or 1900. I'm going to hook his Monitor up & see what it get with Sli'd 670's...

Yeah I saw, I just ran it @ 1080P & it was smooth, but Vram is @1966. It's certain things i can't have on High when running @1440....I know new age games @ higher resolutions will eat up some ram in 2013.

It kind of does...
I was going to go 2011 socket, but I just don't think the small performance increase is worth it. 15% @ max were I read on some site...

Due to 2 extra cores you should get extra 33% in theory. Not in gaming though, so it depends on what's your rig is for. Also 32 PCI-E lanes on LGA2011.

For Z77 X8 3.0/ X8 3.0 is more than enough for 2-way SLI. Unless you want to go 3 or 4 way there is no point in buying a board with PLX chip. Or you can as well use Maximus IV Extreme at x16 2.0/x16 2.0.

It's a very good chance I'll be running 3 cards.

I do a lil video encoding throughout the week, mostly play games though.

Rendering speed scales very well with addition of extra cores. Depends on how much you are willing to pay for that extra ~30%...

I'm about to do some serious reading on the 3770K, 3930K, & X79....
