I'd stick with the Maximus V Formula.

Thermaltake Silver Arrow for a nicer looking cooler.

Definitely take the Vertex 4 for your SSD choice.

Motherboard: Asus Formula

Heatsink: NH-D14

Video: have anything against AMD? If not 7970 would be a great alternate.

Memory: Gskill...PERIOD

SSD: Have you looked into the new Samsung 840 drives?

Yeah I really do like G.Skill memory. The reason I listed the Corsair pair as well was because they were black biggrin.gif. That would flow better with the ASUS board. As for the SSD, I put down those 2 options because I've heard Crucial M4 is the most reliable SSD at the moment and the Vertex 4 because I haven't had any issues that I'm aware of with my Vertex II. I haven't checked out the Samsung drives yet, I guess they rank up there with Crucial and OCZ? I don't have anything against AMD, I just thought the 680 was out on top of the race at the moment, unless I'm ill informed.

I would rather get a RAM kit of 4x4GB modules rather than 2x8GB for better performance. Also, I'd recommend a Samsung 830 or 840 series SSD, and the audio card you've listed is discontinued and out of stock at Newegg, not sure if you've sourced one somewhere else. Go for the Asus board and EVGA GPU.

Everything else looks good. thumb.gif

I listed that audio card just because its part of my current setup and I will take put it into the new build once I start it. Which Samsung SSD is more recommended? 830 or 840?

I would recommend the 830 - the 840 is newer and is supposedly the replacement for the 830, but uses TLC NAND over MLC which slightly decreases performance and lifespan. In reality though, get whichever's cheapest (probably the 830) as I doubt you'll see any difference.

Overall for the SSD choice, head to Sean's SSD Buyer's Guide and see what you can find the best deal on from his recommended list.

As for everything else, the ASUS board, G.SKILL memory and perhaps wait for the U2413M.

For the card, I'd think either would do nicely.

Yeah, I've read that the 830 is still better than the current 840 too, maybe that would be the way to go.

I only recommended EVGA over the MSI because of their after sales service. In reality, both cards will perform pretty much on par with each other. I have an Asus GTX690 btw.

830 or 830 Pro.
Also, what's the primary use of this build - Gaming, editing etc? If it's just gaming, the 3570k may be a better buy for the price.

You mean 840 Pro, but yeah I forgot to mention that.

And ditto on the i5 vs the i7. There's no point paying over $100 extra for hyper-threading if you're never going to use it.
