[Official] Nintendo Wii U Owners Club - Page 37

Yeah, I understand that. Although it seems durable, and I haven't really heard of any widespread wearing out / failing GamePads. There are also lots of kid-proof cases available for it. Maybe a good rubber case to protect it from drops would give you peace of mind?

If all else fails, you could always pony up and replace it, or replace it when you get to the states. I guess you'd have to figure, how much is it worth not using the Wii U at all. But then I have a general "meh" attitude when it comes to stuff breaking. No case on my phone, my vita, my Wii U Gamepad. I mean I take good care of my stuff, don't get me wrong. Nothing gets left out anywhere, stuff stays clean and put away. But I don't go overboard worrying about whether it'll break. And rarely, does anything break in the grand scheme of things. A little common sense and care and most stuff will last for as long as you care to use it.

I take pretty good care of my stuff as well, and it helps that I'm the only one using it. I'm not going to ease the gaming because of that though. biggrin.gif However I ordered a case and a screen protector to be safe.

This is my sole issue with the Wii U. The Gamepad is kinda critical to the system to the point where breaking one is like breaking the console. Replacements are basically unaffordable, and most other devices have pretty limited functionality -- I'd love to be able to use a Pro Controller for most games but unfortunately they're mostly programmed for the Gamepad.

It all works in Nintendo's favor, so lucky them I guess, but I'm hoping they lighten it up per se for the next console and utilize a cheaper controller, or more controller options, like the Pro Controller, or even maybe bringing back a revamped Gamecube controller.

Honestly, in my 25 years of gaming, I have not once seriously damaged a controller. I used to chuck my NES and SNES controllers at the wall ( was angry growing up and the computer always cheated!). The Gamepad seems very solid to me and I see no reason why it would get damaged from regular playing. You'd have to really drop it hard or something to damage it.
