I have never watercooled before, but I want to build my own watercooling system?

Alright, so I am looking forward to buy a i5-3570k and a MSI Mpower Z77.
I'm currently looking at the H100i or, making a custom water cooling system.

I will be using a very cheap Water Block, wich is made out of aluminium, the price is only 8 bucks.
http://img.dxcdn.com/productimages/sku_173740_3.jpg

I will be using another cheap part, wich is the pump - It's something you use in a boat, it's rated to move 17l per minute, wich should be pretty great? http://www.biltema.dk/ProductImages/25/medium/25-981_m.jpg

I will just use some tubings, that will fit - I dont really think they have alot to say? But I'm not too sure.
as a reservoir I will just be using some breakfast case, out of plastic - Where I will run the water from, into the pump, through a car radiator (240cm + ) and into the CPU and maybe the GPU aswell, and then back into the reservoir.

Do you think this would work out? If so, would it perform better than the H100i ? It's cheaper, and sounds like a fun project.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, I'm a handyman - I got some mountings from some old heatsink, that I will wield on. XD!

The pump will probably be very loud and the waterblock will not work well enough. Just get an H100i, they will perform much better and look a LOT nicer. Or you can go with a kit like the XSPC Rasa RS240

Mhm. I'm not sure, I thought this would be a great project, I can always buy something like http://www.coolerkit.dk/shop/alphacool-nexxxos-xp%b3-3280p.html later.

Do you think it would perform better? I mean, it got a more powerful pump + a bigger radiator, how can this be " worse " ?

ya i mean, to use a car radiator, your gonna havta have some serious amount of water in the loop. h100i gonna cool WAY better, not kill your chip, and be quiet.

the project sounds super fun, but i wouldnt kill a 3570k with it, maybe find a 5-10$ chip combo on ebay and give it a go

you will probably get worse temps with that than you would with a nice AIO solution or heatsink. Not worth it IMO.

If you wanted to try this, i would give it a go on a Pentium chip and a cheap motherboard.. Wouldnt risk it on a main rig. tongue.gif

Aluminum and copper is not a good mix. This will cause galvanic corrosion.
It is best to save up.
Water cooling guide is in my sig.

Also, that aluminum waterblock will make it impossible to add any components to the loop down the road due to most other components having copper. Copper + aluminum = lots of corrosion in the same loop, so I strongly suggest the h100i. The h100i will almost certainly outperform this as well.
